Happiness; can we attain it?

Today is the International Day of Happiness; are you happy? Would you like to be happier? Is there a way to be happier?

I recently listened to a podcast from the famous Freakonomics entitled ‘Why is My Life so Hard?‘. It definitely struck a cord with me because I often think about the amount of complaining that everyone (including myself!) does throughout a day. We always tend to focus on the negative aspects of life, but there’s so much to be grateful for! And, I’m not talking about owning a big house or a fancy car; I mean being able to walk or having the sun come out in the morning! It’s the things we take for granted that we need to start paying attention to.

Stephen Dubner, the host, with two academics in psychology take us through a discussion about  why it’s so easy to feel resentfulness in life instead of being grateful for so many things that are ‘invisible’. Does this ring a bell? I thought it was a perfect post for the International Day of Happiness. Take a listen. You never know, it might make you rethink those negative thoughts.
